It is no secret that a great spray tan can make you feel like a million bucks. You love the sun-kissed glow that your skin has, and you want it to last for as long as possible. Keeping your spray tan looking great is possible, as long as you are doing what you need to do to maintain it. Here’s how you can do it.

Avoid Hot Showers or Baths

One way to help maintain your spray tan is to avoid showers or baths that are too hot. The hot water will cause the top layer of your skin to peel off, which is the skin that has been colored by your spray tan. Instead, a shower or bath in lukewarm water and try to keep the time spent in the water to a minimum. When you are toweling off, try to pat yourself dry rather than rubbing your skin. This stops you from rubbing off the tan unnecessarily.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

It is essential to moisturize when you have a spray tan. Lotions and oils help to keep your skin moist and stop it from drying out and cracking. Skin that is dry and cracks will cause your tan to start to flake off with your bare skin. Moisturizers that have shea butter and coconut oil in them are great because they help to lock that moisture into your skin. The best time to apply lotion is right after you shower, but anytime your skin starts to feel dry is a good time as well.

Use An Additional Self Tanner

Using a high-quality self-tanner at home can also help to increase the life of your spray tan. If you notice that your tan is starting to fade, apply your self-tanner all over you after you take a shower. This can help to keep your color looking darker for longer and increase the length of time that you can go between spray tans.
